Dry Gin 'Bristol Method' (700 ml.) - Smeaton's

'Bristol Method' Dry Gin by Smeaton's is produced in England following a very rigorous production method: the raw materials are processed strictly by hand, a single distillation is carried out for each ingredient depending on seasonality, using traditional copper stills at different temperatures . The careful and accurate distillation captures the pure essence of each botanical, from the Tuscan juniper to the hand-cut Valencia orange. Dry gin of exceptional balance, complexity and length. The dedication applied in distillation allows the berries to express their bright flavors and delicate oils, preserves clean citrus aromas, and allows the barks and roots to deliver their rich, deep flavors. Annual production: 3,000 bottles.

Ten years in the making: the story of Smeaton's Dry Gin began with a reference to Bristol Gin in Loftus, a rare book from 1869. London and Plymouth gins are well known. But what made Loftus think that “Bristol Gin” was special and different? The Bristol archives in Smeaton Road, a mine of manuscripts, contained the answer: a manuscript recipe from 1870 of which Smeaton's is a faithful reconstruction. According to the original Bristol method eight botanicals - juniper, angelica, calamus, cinnamon, coriander, liquorice, orange and iris - are distilled separately when fresh, and finally blended to obtain Bristol Gin.
