Veuve Clicquot
In the heart of Champagne, where vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see between rolling hills and boundless skies, lies the famous house of Veuve Clicquot, a name that resonates with connoisseurs of bubbles around the world. Powerful and refined, this French winery embodies the elegance and freshness that only the greatest winemaking traditions can convey. Founded in 1772, Veuve Clicquot was shaped with audacity and innovation by the vision of Madame Clicquot, the "Grande Dame de la Champagne", who transformed the art of sparkling wine making into a true philosophy of life.
Champagne is a region that speaks through its unique terroirs and its fascinating history. Here, under the watchful eye of the house's winemakers, the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier grapes are grown with meticulous care, cradled by the temperate climate and chalky soil that gives them an incomparable complexity. These expertly chosen varieties intertwine to create the aromatic mosaic that characterizes each bottle of Veuve Clicquot.
Among the iconic labels, Yellow Label Brut represents the manifesto of the house: a perfect balance between structure, freshness and a silky finish, which tells the story of a timeless savoir-faire. With its palette of aromas ranging from ripe fruits to notes of brioche, this Champagne is an invitation to be enveloped in luxury and refinement.
In a glass of Veuve Clicquot, you find the essence of a production philosophy that combines tradition and modernity, innovation and respect for nature. A sensory journey that continues to enchant generations of connoisseurs. THE WINE
'Vintage' Brut by Veuve Clicquot is one of the flagship Champagnes of the maison, born from the excellence of a great vintage and from the most prestigious vineyards in the region, only Grand and Premier Cru grapes. The first vintage was produced in 1810 and ushered in the concept of vintage. It fully embodies the concept of Grand Vin de Champagne, a fusion of elegance, charm, aromatic depth, played on varietal hints of fruit, flowers and citrus fruits combined with toasted tones, yeast and dried fruit. Pleasant to the sip for its nice tension and minerality, as well as softness and roundness. Champagne with great longevity and characterized by harmony and balance, ideal to accompany refined dishes based on fish and white meats.
THE HOUSE
It all began in 1772, when Philippe Clicquot, a businessman and landowner, founded "a négoce de vin à l'enseigne Clicquot". A small company, which aspires to go beyond borders to make the new name of Champagne known to the whole world. In 1798, François Clicquot, son of the founder of the Maison, married Barbe Nicole Ponsardin. It will be the latter who, after having inherited from her husband all the passion and all the skills for the production and marketing of Champagne, will be able to grow the company until it becomes one of the most famous and renowned Maison not only in the area of Reims, but of the whole Champagne region. Barbe Nicole Ponsardin, in fact, widowed at the age of twenty-seven, after the death of her husband firmly took over the reins of the company, becoming in fact one of the first great female entrepreneurs in modern history, known by all with the nickname of "widow Clicquot ”, Or“ Veuve Clicquot ”, hence the name of the Maison itself.
Under the guidance of the young widow, some insights were learned that benefited the whole denomination. From the first vintage Champagne, that of 1810, to the perfecting of the remuage technique, passing through the development of the liqueur de tirage useful for the second refermentation in the bottle, there is no expectation that she did not follow it personally.
Without forgetting, then, his great commercial ability, thanks to which Barbe Nicole Ponsardin herself managed in 1814 to overcome the continental block that immobilized Europe in mercantile exchanges, making her Champagne land directly in Russia, in St. Petersburg, with what today is not surprisingly known as the “cuvée Saint Petersbourg”.
A story of excellence, in short, which currently, under the sign of the luxury group LVMH owner of the Maison since 1986, continues thanks to Champagne with a unique personality, always recognizable in their immediate elegance and their extraordinary refinement.
