Pinot Noir 'Vivendo' 2019 (750 ml.) - Calyptra

Pinot Noir 'Vivendo' by Calyptra is a high altitude wine, in fact it is produced at 1,000 meters above sea level in the Cachapoal Valley area, in Chile. The 25-year-old vines reside on volcanic soil of approximately 3 hectares. The unique geographical and climatic conditions allow the birth of bunches with particularly concentrated aromas. It is vinified only with indigenous yeasts, the refinement takes place in used French oak barriques for 18 months, followed by 12 months in the bottle. Hints of red fruit, black cherry, raspberries and berries. Balsamic and floral with notes of rosemary and juniper, pleasant spicy notes of vanilla and cocoa. On the palate, a flavor and intensity stand out combined with great freshness and minerality. Elegant and persistent finish.

Calyptra comes from the Greek Calyptros, meaning “hat”. Metaphorically, the vineyard greets the spring season by taking off its hat through the blossoming of buds. Already in the name of this winery we find one of the fundamental cornerstones on which it is based: profound respect for the environment. In 1989 the famous cosmetic surgeon José Zahri bought Santa Cruz de Coya, a plot of approximately 60 hectares, for pure pleasure. The doctor and entrepreneur decided to embark on his winemaking adventure by replacing the existing orchards with the first Chardonnay shoots. After a careful study of the soil and the microclimatic conditions, perfect for a very high level production, it became clear that Calyptra's philosophy had to be oriented towards the creation of exceptional, unique and niche wines, which reflected the terroir. Even today the objective of this winery is to produce some of the finest wines in the world, using cultivation methods that respect nature and artisanal and modern winemaking processes at the same time, with the aim of preserving the purity and integrity of the cultivated vines. The main varieties are Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
