Pinot Noir 'Blauschiefer' by Meyer-Näkel well represents the terroir of the Ahr, Germany. Vine grown on soils rich in slate and decomposed stones, which give minerality and light smoky nuances to the wine. Low yields and hand-harvested grapes. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with the use of only indigenous yeasts. It matures for 12 months in second, third and fourth passage barriques, in order to avoid excessive release of woody aromas. On the palate it is full and enveloping, with a juicy and harmonious sip supported by a soft and velvety tannin, while on the nose the notes of red fruit, blueberries, blackberries and cherries in alcohol stand out, accompanied by spicy hints. It can be stored for a few years in the cellar.

Meyer–Näkel
In the picturesque Ahr Valley in Germany, where vineyards gracefully climb the steep hills and the river flows peacefully between the rocks, lies the renowned Meyer–Näkel winery. This corner of the world, despite being one of the smallest wine-growing regions in Germany, is known for its extraordinary quality, especially in the production of Pinot Noir, locally known as Spätburgunder. Meyer–Näkel, with its centuries-old tradition, has established itself as a beacon of excellence, celebrated for its ability to transform grapes into wines of rare elegance and complexity.
Meyer–Näkel's production philosophy is based on a deep respect for nature and its timing. The winemakers of this winery have honed the art of cultivating Spätburgunder, seeing each harvest as an opportunity to express the unique characteristics of the Ahr terroir. The slate-rich soils help give the wines a distinctive mineral structure, while the cool climate of the region preserves the freshness and acidity of the grapes, essential elements for creating long-lived and complex wines.
Among the winery's standout labels, the Pfarrwingert GG stands out as a true statement of quality. This wine, the supreme expression of Ahr Pinot Noir, is characterized by its enveloping aromas of ripe red fruits, delicate spices and a touch of damp earth, which evolve gracefully over time. Every sip is a discovery, a sensory journey that brings with it the purest essence of this unique region.
