Rosso di Montalcino 'Ignaccio' by Il Marroneto estate is made from the vinification of Sangiovese Grosso in purity and combines the typical complexity of the wines of the territory, with a nice pleasantness to drink, a younger and more fruity version of Brunello. The wine ages in 25-hectolitre oak barrels for 8 months and ends the refinement with a further 6 months in the bottle. This short aging in wood gives an elegant bouquet, with floral notes and fragrant aromas of cherry and small red berry fruit, followed by spicy, tobacco, noble woods and balsamic hints. You can taste its good structure, still juicy fruit and embellished with beautiful evolutionary notes. Well integrated and balanced tannins and a fresh and persistent finish.

Founded in the rolling hills of Montalcino, Il Marroneto has become a point of reference for those seeking the quintessence of this legendary wine. The history of the winery is intertwined with that of the territory, a place where winemaking tradition is handed down from generation to generation, maintaining its authenticity intact.
The winery is renowned for its dedication to the cultivation of Sangiovese, the only grape variety that gives life to its wines. This choice is a clear reflection of Il Marroneto’s production philosophy, which favors the purity and elegance of the native grape, enhancing the unique characteristics of the Montalcino terroir. Through an approach that combines tradition and respect for nature, each Sangiovese grape is transformed into wines that shine with depth and brightness.

THE COMPANY
On the high slopes of the Montalcino hill, facing a panorama that sweeps from the towers of Siena to the mountains of Casentino, at the foot of the church of the Madonna delle Grazie stands an ancient tower where the cellar of Alessandro Mori, owner and interpreter of those Sangiovese grapes that have always been grown here. The first bottle of Brunello signed Il Marroneto came out of this winery in 1978, when his father Giuseppe bought the land just outside the walls of Montalcino, inaugurating one of the first spontaneous cellars in the area.
Around the tower, a historic building from 1246, the vines extend for 6 hectares, planted between 1975 and 1983 on slopes so steep that terracing is necessary. Cultivation is carried out with little interventionist, traditional and minimalist criteria which include natural grassing and spring pruning, in addition to the refusal of intensive production to the benefit of quality. The harvest takes place only when the stalk begins to turn to burnt colors, a sign that the seeds have reached the right ripeness that allows to give the wine vegetable tannins. The vinification to which the grapes are subjected responds to a traditional and classic enology; aging takes place in large Allier and Slovenian barrels for at least 4 years, as required by the Brunello specification. The result is an elegant and important wine, for meditation, a magnificent expression of that love and patience necessary to produce it.
After almost 40 years of activity, Il Marroneto is considered among the ten historic companies of Montalcino, among the most renowned and important, thanks to the passion and work of Alessandro, but above all to that impeccable and exciting Brunello that bears his signature.
