Prunotto
In the heart of the Langhe of Piedmont, a land where the hills dance with the morning mists, stands Prunotto, a winery that for decades has embodied the very essence of Langhe viticulture. Its history is a blend of tradition and innovation, which began in the early twentieth century and is now carried forward with passion and skill by the prestigious Antinori family. Prunotto is a symbol of winemaking excellence that has managed to maintain its ties with the territory intact, enhancing the most renowned DOCGs of the area: Barolo and Barbaresco.
Prunotto's vineyards are nourished by the clay and limestone soils typical of the Langhe, where grapes such as Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto find their ideal habitat. It is here that wines of extraordinary elegance and depth are born, capable of telling stories of ancient soils and expert hands. Prunotto's production philosophy is based on respect for tradition, with an eye always open to innovation and sustainability, to offer wines that are both authentic and modern.
Among the labels that best represent the soul of Prunotto, Barolo Bussia stands out, a wine that embodies the power and refinement of Nebbiolo. This wine, with its notes of ripe red fruits, spices and dried flowers, is a sensory journey that accompanies the taster through the Langhe hills, with a tannic structure that promises longevity and charm over time.
I invite you to discover Prunotto labels on Vino45, to live an oenological experience that combines history, territory and passion in every glass. An opportunity to immerse yourself in the authentic flavors of Piedmont and be won over by its timeless elegance.

THE VINEYARD
Vigna Colonnello is produced from one single prized hectare (2.5 acres) in the Monforte d’Alba area. This wine represents the two combined spirits of the Barolo territory and celebrates the encounter of two first-class terroirs. A wine with silky tannins capable of expressing the finesse and elegance of Tortonian soils while exalting the structure and power of Serravallian terrain.
THE COMPANY
At the beginning of the 20th century, in 1904, when the "Wines of the Langhe" wine cellar was founded in Serralunga d'Alba, which however, after less than twenty years started to have serious budget problems was liquidated. In 1922, Alfredo Prunotto chose to find the company, giving her the name. Since then, year after year, success has been uninterrupted, and the Prunotto cellar has started to export wines all over the world. In 1954, Alfredo Prunotto himself decided to sell the company to the enamel friend Beppe Colla, who in turn, forty years later in 1994, chose to sell the cellar to the Marchesi Antinori family. At present, the Prunotto estate extends over a total area of about fifty hectares of vines, divided among some of the best Piedmont wine areas, such as Bussia, Bric Turot and Costamiole. Among the rows, the vines are cured with rigor and consistency, raised as children, and cultivated in full respect for the environment, nature and ecosystem. In the cellar, although relying on the most modern oenological technologies, the main goal remains to enhance and enhance what the season and the territory have been able to express in the fruit. It is in this way that the Prunotto wine company comes to propose an important range of labels, divided between the classic line and the selection line, the latter created to enhance the individual cru. From Barolo to Barbaresco, passing through Grignolino, Roero and Moscato d'Asti, you arrive at Barbera and Dolcetto: this is how, with one of Piedmont's most prestigious and renowned oenologist speaking names, Prunotto wines by now for years they have become famous interpreters of some of the most prestigious denominations of all of Piedmont and not only, showing themselves profoundly elegant and extremely refined. At this juncture, the young Alfredo Prunotto knows and marries Luigina, with whom he decides to take the Winery "Ai Vini delle Langhe", giving it his name. The Cantina, thanks to the passion of the two spouses, soon becomes famous and begins to export wines all over the world: first in South America and later in the United States, whose markets opened in those years. Prunuo is one of the few companies to believe in that economic outlook. In 1956, Alfredo Prunotto decided to withdraw from the business, surrendering the company to his enotecnico friend Beppe Colla, flanked by Carlo Filiberti and later by his brother Tino Colla. The Prunotto cellar began in 1961 to identify typical areas of particularly valuable production for the crucible vinification, such as Barolo Bussia and Barbera d'Alba Pian Romualdo. In 1972, Ugo della Piana, an architect of Langarole origin, designs the new cellar, which will be built near Alba where it is still the home of the company. In 1989, the Marchesi Antinori family began collaborating with the Prunotto company, first dealing with distribution and then in 1994 with the retirement of the Colla brothers, also directly in production, while retaining the excellent quality level strongly desired by Alfredo Prunotto. One of the most important goals of the Antinori family, in agreement with the Colla, is to produce from vineyards and to have a more careful control of the product from birth. This project took shape in 1990, when Albiera Antinori, the first-born of Marchese Piero Antinori, further delineates the personality of the winery, paying particular attention to the acquisitions of vineyards, among which: the Costamiole vineyard, Agliano, for the production of Barbera d'Asti, the vineyard in cru Bussia, one of the most renowned in the Barolo area and lands in Calliano for the study and analysis of new vines such as Albarossa and Syrah. In 1996, the 5-acre vineyard in the Barbaresco area, named "Bric Turot", and 5 hectares in the Treiso area for the production of Muscat, are also acquired.
