Marsala DOC Superiore Secco 'SS1516' 2016 (750 ml.) Florio

Marsala Superiore Secco “SS1516” 2016 by Florio is made exclusively from Grillo grapes, harvested at full ripeness in the second half of September from sandy coastal soilsnear Marsala, constantly swept by salty sea breezes. Fermentation with native yeasts is halted by the addition of wine alcohol to preserve structure and freshness. The wine has aged since December 15, 2016, in the single 15DAG cask, crafted from Allier oak, within the historic Cantina Garibaldi, located just 134 meters from the sea. After over 8 yearsof aging, it delivers a dry, taut profile, with notes of dried fruits, herbal nuances, refined spices, and a marked saline touch. A limited and numbered edition, ideal with aged cheeses, oysters, bottarga, or as a meditation wine.

The history of the Florio winery has its roots in the distant 1833, when Vincenzo Florio, a man of vision and courage, decided to embark on an oenological journey that would indelibly mark the history of Sicilian wine. Located in the splendid setting of Sicily, a land of contrasts and wild beauty, Florio is more than just a winery: it is a symbol of tradition and innovation that has conquered palates all over the world thanks to its Marsala.

Marsala, a fortified wine that bears the name of the city where it was born, is an authentic oenological jewel that captures the essence of Sicily. The gentle hills and mild climate of the island offer the ideal conditions for the cultivation of Grillo and Catarratto grapes, native varieties that give Marsala its unique and unmistakable character. The Florio winery stands out for its production that follows traditional methods, respecting the times of nature and enhancing every nuance of the Sicilian terroir.

Each bottle of Marsala Florio is a symphony of aromas and flavors: from the warm and enveloping tones of dried fruit and vanilla, to the spicy and balsamic hints that enhance its complexity. It is a wine that can adapt to multiple occasions, from solitary meditation to the conviviality of a lunch with friends, and that manages to amaze with its versatility.

Let yourself be won over by the timeless charm of Florio wines and discover the authentic expression of Marsala on Vino45: a journey between past and present, between land and sea, in a sip of pure Sicily.

Address:

Via Vincenzo Florio, 1 - 91025 Marsala (TP), Italy

Color: clear and bright amber, with intense golden reflections that denote the evolution and the long stay in wood. The visual density is important, but not opulent, showing a coherence between structure and freshness.

Bouquet: complex and penetrating. It opens with notes of dried fruit - in particular toasted almond and walnut - followed by hints of medicinal herbs such as rosemary and dried sage. Spicy accents of white pepper and cinnamon emerge, intertwined with a salty and iodized touch, which tell of the influence of the sea and the proximity of the Cantina Garibaldi to the coast.

Taste: dry, taut and vertical, with a clear and saline attack. The sip is supported by a surprising freshness for the type, which accompanies a broad but slender structure. The wood notes are perfectly integrated and leave room for returns of fine spices, candied citrus and an elegant bitter aftertaste. The persistence is very long, with a clean and clear finish that invites meditation.
