Nobile di Montepulciano

The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a red wine with Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin (DOCG) produced in Tuscany, in the territory of the municipality of Montepulciano in the province of Siena. Composed of Sangiovese, called Montepulciano Prugnolo gentile: minimum 70%. It should not be confused with the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC, which is an Abruzzo wine produced with the homonymous vine, unlike the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano which, instead, is vinified from an ancient clonal selection of the Sangiovese vine called Prugnolo Gentile. The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of the oldest wines in Italy.

The Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva by Carpineto winery is produced with grapes from Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile) vineyards with a minimum of 70% and no more than 30% between Canaiolo and other authorized varieties. It is then placed for 2 years in oval Slavonian oak barrels and in French oak barrels in the cellar at room temperature, and then refined in bottle for a minimum of 6 months. Greatness and elegance for this red wine.

The Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG selection 'Asinone' by Poliziano is produced only in the best years and the number of bottles produced reflects the quality of the vintage itself. It refines in barriques for 16-18 months before being bottled. On average, production is around 20,000-40,000 bottles. In the years in which it is not bottled, Asinone is "downgraded" to Nobile di Montepulciano base.

The Nobile di Montepulciano by Poliziano is produced with Prugnolo Gentile grapes, which characterize the area of Montepulciano, the potential of a territory with a recognized wine-growing vocation. The result is this structured red, long-lasting and intense, but not unnecessarily caricatural fragrances, which faithfully express its deep Tuscan origins.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 'Le Caggiole' by Poliziano is an excellent pure Sangiovese, the result of an important restoration work of the very vine that gives its name to the label itself. Manual harvest and selection of the grapes, fermentation in steel and aging for 16-18 months in French oak tonneaux. A label made in a few bottles for a qualitative yield at the highest levels.
