By the Dutch Distillery is located in Schiedam, in the Netherlands, in Holland, which has always been home to important and appreciated distillates and distillers. This city, located in the western part of the country, became the capital of Dutch gin (jenever) in the 18th century, thanks to the important function of windmills, used for grinding cereals. Here there are in fact the largest mills in the world and also the Jenever Museum, testifying to its significant role in local culture. Founded in 2015, with the aim of pursuing the search for the best quality, without sacrificing aromatic richness and traditional processing, at By the Dutch we work with passion and love for the product and the raw materials that compose it. The result is a varied offer of liqueurs and spirits with a traditional mold, particularly linked to the territory and its history, with a generous heart and a strong character, produced in an artisanal way and bottled by expert hands in the Dutch territory.
Dry Gin by By the Dutch is distilled in the Herman Jansen distillery in Schiedam, the city where the Gin originated. The botanicals used are: juniper berries, blood orange, lemon peel, dried bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, coriander. The maceration time for each botanical is about 15 days before distillation. Traditional Dutch spices and botanicals are distilled separately. The distillates are then mixed and brought to 42.5% alcohol by volume; a percentage chosen by the master distiller for a perfect balance of aroma and taste. A unique gin, which recalls the tradition of Schiedam.
Rum 'Batavia Arrack' by By the Dutch is distilled from sugar cane molasses from Java, Indonesia, and is then blended and aged in Amsterdam, while bottling takes place in Schiedam. Strong and powerful rum, with intriguing aromas and vibrant and characteristic flavors. The peculiarity of this distillate is the addition of local red rice during the fermentation phase. The distillation is performed with traditional Pot stills using ancient practices of Chinese origin. Aging in oak barrels for up to 8 years makes it perfect as an after dinner party with friends or even for the preparation of cocktails with a strong character and intense flavor.
