Marche IGT 'Arkezia' Muffo di San Sisto 2016 (500 ml.) - Tenute San Sisto
'Arkezia' Muffo di San Sisto by Tenute San Sisto was born in the San Sisto vine in the Classic area of production of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. The prestigious company reserve is produced in only 2 hectares chosen for its proximity to the Esino river which favors the natural development of the Noble Mold. The Verdicchio grape left on the plant, in particular years and with favorable microclimatic conditions, develops the "Botritis Cinerea", a Noble Mold capable of creating positive organoleptic transformations. Only the clusters with a mold attack of more than 50% are selected. Ages in small 225-liter French oak barrels for 14-16 months and 6 months of bottle aging. A meditation wine or accompaniment to aged cheeses. Great.

THE COMPANY
Fazi Battaglia was set up in 1949 when two families – Fazi and Battaglia – joined forces in a small wine estate in the town of Cupramontana, but it was the Angelini family just a few years later which made the company into a historic Italian wine making brand.
And all this thanks to courage and an intuition which can be summed up in two fundamental and decidedly innovative choices for the era: investing strongly in vineyard improvment (in an era in which quality considerations were still a very long way from being central to Italian winemaking) and, at the same time, a strong belief in a single vine, Verdicchio. Two choices which were ahead of their time and made Fazi Battaglia a standard bearer for the promotion of production areas like the Marche region and one of the great native Italian vines.

The bouquet and the taste-olfactory structure create a harmonious and extremely refined whole. Vanilla, buttery and toasted tones thanks to the fermentation that takes place in French oak barriques, where the wine then rests for about a year. It is completed with a further 12 months of bottle aging. Wonderful.
