Barolo Bussia 'Briccotto' by Domenico Clerico expresses absolute elegance in the glass, with a velvety tannin. A Barolo so delicate that since its first vintage it has been bottled only 12 times. Here begins the story of the Domenico Clerico winery, from its most challenging project. Where it all started in 1978, with a few rows in the most suitable area of the MGA, Bussia Soprana. Today, from the same 9 rows planted in 1965, about 1000 bottles are produced, but only in vintages where the climate is ideal. The bouquet is intense and rich in berries, with secondary aromas of licorice and tobacco, and finally tertiary notes of leather, rosemary, and eucalyptus. On the palate, acidity and structure welcome a full-bodied sip, a delicate and smooth wine with a balanced velvety tannin. Very elegant.

This is where the story of the Domenico Clerico winery is reborn, from its most challenging project. Everything began in 1978, with a few rows in the most suited area of the MGA, Bussia Soprana. Today, from the same 9 rows planted in 1965, approximately 1000 bottles are produced, but only in years with ideal climate conditions. The bouquet is intense and rich in berries, with secondary aromas of licorice and tobacco, and finally tertiary notes of leather, rosemary, and eucalyptus. On the palate, acidity and structure welcome a full-bodied drink, a delicate and soft wine with a balanced velvety tannin. Very elegant.
THE COMPANY
Around the mid-1970s, specifically in 1976, Domenico Clerico, at his father's request, chose to take over the management of the family farm, which at the time spanned about five hectares and produced grapes to be sold to the nearby social winery. However, seeing the meager profits and being convinced of the enormous potential of the lands of the Langhe, Domenico, assisted by his wife Giuliana in managing the estate, decided to start vinifying his own grapes to produce quality wines.
With love and dedication, he began to care for his vines, trying to interpret every little need throughout the year. At the same time, Domenico purchased new well-positioned vineyard plots in the heart of Bussia, in the Ginestra cru and the Mosconi cru, selecting land with optimal microclimatic characteristics.
Today, the winery of Domenico Clerico has 21 hectares of vineyards located in some of the best subzones of Barolo in Monforte d’Alba and Serralunga d’Alba. At an altitude ranging from 150 to 450 meters above sea level, managing the rows carefully and thoughtfully, with the utmost respect for the environment, nature, biodiversity, and the ecosystem, grapes are harvested that are pure and precious, translating into labels with a thousand facets, olfactively seductive and gustatively complex.
Thus, hard work, sweat, and determination have given rise to what can currently be considered a vital and dynamic wine-making reality, undoubtedly among the most representative wineries of Monforte d’Alba. The company of Domenico Clerico best interprets the nebbiolo grape, producing wines that are overwhelming in olfactory notes, noble on the palate, and infinite in persistence. From the Barolo “Pajana” to the Barolo “Aeroplanservaj”, from the Barolo “Ciabot Mentin” to the Barolo “Percristina”, without forgetting the Barbera and Dolcetto: simply extraordinary wines.
