The Molinara is a native black grape variety of the Verona area used in a complementary way but, since 2003, it is not obligatory in the production of wines produced in the Valpolicella area, among which the most famous Amarone della Valpolicella. In the composition of the grapes can be present in the measure from 5% to 25%. The name derives from the large quantity of pruina that covers the berries, so as to appear covered with white flour, like inside a mill of the past. Appreciated for the mineral notes it brings to the wines.
