The Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru from Chapelle de Blagny is a pure Chardonnay produced from HVE-certified vineyards - high environmental value - aged 30-60 years located in the Premier Cru of Meursault. The grapes, hand-picked, are cooled and the sediments are removed within 24 hours. It ages for 12 months in barrels, followed by 4-6 months of refinement in stainless steel tanks. This wine is well-structured, rich, fruity, and powerful in aroma, supported by spicy and mineral notes. The aroma is very fresh, with notes of acacia flowers, citrus, buttered bread, and vanilla, gradually dominated by honey and hazelnut. A unique spicy finish for this terroir.

THE ESTATE

During the Gallo-Roman period, the hamlet of Blagny was inhabited, and its residents likely already cultivated vines. From the 12th to the 18th century, the land of Blagny belonged to the Abbey of Maizières. Thanks to the care given by the monks to the cultivation of vines and the production of wines, Blagny was already very famous for the excellence of its wines. Sold as national property in 1793, the estate was purchased by an ancestor of the current owners in 1811. The future five generations will all be committed to preserving this excellence. Today, the estate is led by Jean-Louis de Montlivault, while Etienne de Brichard is preparing to take over. The terroir of Blagny, which is no more than 40 hectares, includes 20% of the “1st Cru” appellations of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, universally known for their excellent white wines. The soils, consisting of clay-limestone marls, are suitable for both reds and whites. The vines, grouped around the “Hameau de Blagny”, are located in the highest part of the Premier Crus. The estate's vineyards are all situated on the terroir of Blagny. Since 2015, the estate has obtained High Environmental Value certification: a certificate that corresponds to the highest level of a general environmental certification scheme for agricultural enterprises.
