THE COMPANY
A true synonym of excellence, Alois Lageder over the years has demonstrated the best that South Tyrol can express in terms of personality, elegance, and adherence to the territory. A result born from a clear vision of their work, where every activity is closely linked to others in a virtuous circle that has found completion in the conversion of their vineyards to biodynamic practices.
Founded in 1823 and now in its sixth generation, the company stands out for its ability to blend tradition and innovation: “quality is always the result of many details, sometimes even minimal - recalls Alois Lageder - and in all stages of processing, we first seek to find harmony among all the factors involved, working in harmony with nature.” It is no coincidence that each wine manages, like few others in the region, to tell the ever-changing characteristics of its vineyard of origin - South Tyrol is indeed a land extremely rich in soil variety, microclimatic areas, and exposures, providing ideal conditions to produce wines with marked individuality. The grapes harvested from the family-owned vineyards, about 50 hectares between Magrè, Cortaccia, Termeno, and the area of Lake Caldaro, are cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods certified by Demeter. Moreover, in addition to managing their own vineyards, the company collaborates with a number of trusted winemakers from different areas of South Tyrol, whose vineyards collectively extend over another 110 hectares, of which about a quarter is cultivated according to biodynamic principles.
It is from this extraordinary context that wines are born that are true ambassadors of the territory, enchanting whites and reds that make up an assortment composed of three levels of quality: the Classics, the Terroir Selections, and the Masi.
