Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC 'Bernardina' by Ceretto comes from the homonymous estate in Alba, in one of the most suitable areas for Nebbiolo. It is produced from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, cultivated using sustainable methods and vinified with the aim of expressing varietal elegance. After fermentation in steel, the wine matures for 12-14 months in large oak barrels that respect the finesse of the fruit and enhance its depth. On the nose, notes of raspberry, violet, wilted rose, and delicate spices emerge. The palate is harmonious, fresh, with well-crafted tannins and a long and refined finish. Perfect with roasts, braised white meats, tajarin with rabbit ragù and medium-aged cheeses. A classic and authentic Nebbiolo d’Alba that reflects the elegant style of the Ceretto family.

Color: clear and bright ruby red, of medium intensity, with delicate garnet reflections that begin to surface just at the edge of the glass, typical of the variety and youth of the vintage.
Bouquet: fine and elegant: distinct floral notes of violet and withered rose emerge, followed by hints of fresh red fruits such as raspberry and cherry. In the background, very delicate spicy hints can be perceived, including white pepper and a nuance of nutmeg, resulting from aging in large wood, well balanced and respectful of the fruit.
Taste: harmonious and smooth, with a fresh attack and a fine, well-integrated tannic texture. The body is lean yet possesses depth and persistence, with a clean finish that recalls the floral and fruity sensations perceived on the nose. The balance between acidity and structure makes it versatile at the table, already enjoyable but with potential for positive evolution in the short term.

THE PHILOSOPHY
Our vineyards are cultivated according to the model of organic farming, which avoids excessive exploitation of natural resources, according to a sustainable development model for nature and for man, which can last over time.
The term Organic Farming indicates a cultivation method that allows the use of only natural substances, those present in nature, excluding the use of synthetic chemical substances (fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides). All our vineyards (160 hectares total) have been converted to organic farming from 2010 to the present. A revolutionary choice that radically changes the management methods of the vineyards, aimed at greater respect for the soil, the grapes, and humanity. In 2016, we obtained certification with the 2015 harvest, and the first organic wines were bottled.
THE COMPANY
Selecting the vineyards in historically the most valid positions was the objective of the two brothers Bruno and Marcello Ceretto. This idea, derived from a trip to Burgundy, would prove beneficial for the family and make the wines Barolo and Barbaresco among the most appreciated in the world. A revolution, at the time, for a territory where the concept of cru was totally unknown, but, above all, a brilliant intuition. A real struggle, theirs, undertaken with their father Riccardo, who bought the grapes to vinify them. "You are starting a difficult journey; the land has never created wealth for anyone," Riccardo claimed, but the stubborn Bruno and Marcello had no doubts: "We are 100% for the land; the winery counts a little, but great wines are made with grapes." They then began to dream of labels bearing the name of the vineyard, with its photograph appearing as well: "so that those who drink that wine have the vineyard from which it comes under their eyes. The vineyard is history; the names of the hills remain over time, they do not change, and this strengthens the quality and credibility of the wines produced here. A vineyard you can look for, visit, touch, always." In 1986, The Wine Spectator, perhaps the most influential American magazine in the wine world, featured the two brothers from Langhe on its cover, calling them Barolo Brothers. Bruno and Marcello were under 50 years old, but they did not let themselves be overwhelmed by what was an official consecration, to which everyone aspires but few manage to achieve. Today they have remained true to themselves, have not stopped dreaming, and continue to fight for a just objective. Meanwhile, the Langhe has grown with them and with those who, like them, place the name of the land that has birthed and accompanied them throughout their lives before their own name.
