Merlot 'MCMLVII' by Alois Lageder is an intuition in 1995 by Luis von Dellemann, then oenologist of the Lageder estate, who was faced with grapes of such quality in the Punggl vineyard in Magrè that led him to vinify them alone. The name comes from the Roman numerals. Fermentation is spontaneous, with different percentages of whole bunches, in steel or wood. Maturation takes place in small barrels for about a year. This is followed by refinement in the bottle for one year. It is a red with a large and complex bouquet, with notes of ripe plum, plum, myrtle, with notes of black truffle and undergrowth. The susa strength is in the taste which is broad, enveloping, with perfectly integrated tannins and a very balanced flavor and freshness. An excellent product to try.
