The Schioppettino from Sirch has its cradle in the area of Prepotto, where climate, soil, and local culture have given life to a true terroir. An autochthonous variety par excellence, it stands out for its class, elegance, and hints of spicy aromas. So much so that it is defined as the Friulian Pinot Noir. In 2008, the subzone of Schioppettino di Prepotto was established – within the Doc Friuli Colli Orientali – elevating it to a true grand cru. It is a wine that makes finesse and elegance its distinguishing features. A gentle red that is nonetheless capable of achieving excellent complexity thanks to a precious balance between aroma and taste. This is confirmed by its excellent aromatic persistence on the finish, which recalls the spicy tones.

THE WINE
The Schioppettino by Sirch has its cradle in the area of Prepotto, where climate, soil, and local culture have given rise to a true terroir. An indigenous variety par excellence, it stands out for its class, elegance, and hints of spicy aromas. So much so that it is defined as the Friulian Pinot Noir. In 2008, the subzone of Schioppettino di Prepotto was established - within the Doc Friuli Colli Orientali - consecrating it as a true grand cru. It is a wine that makes finesse and elegance its distinctive signs. A gentle red yet capable of achieving excellent complexity thanks to a precious balance between smell and taste. Its excellent aromatic persistence in the finish, which recalls spicy tones, confirms this.
THE COMPANY
Sirch is a winery that produces wines with great territorial typicity in the splendid natural setting of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. It is a family-run business that began in the mid-1950s, which has passed down the love for its land and the passion for viticulture from generation to generation. It has grown over time, following the success of Friulian wines, which since the 1970s, after the creation of the DOC Colli Orientali, have captured the attention of enthusiasts as one of the best excellences at the national level. Today, the winery manages a vast property covering about one hundred hectares, divided into different estates located in the most suitable areas of the territory and continues to produce labels in line with ancient tradition, focusing on quality. The Colli Orientali area includes the hilly region in the province of Udine towards the Slovenian border. It is a territory historically suited for vine cultivation, due to particularly favorable pedoclimatic conditions. The Julian Alps shield the vineyards from disturbances coming from the northeast, and the proximity to the Adriatic coast makes the climate temperate and always breezy thanks to the gentle winds. The soils are of ancient marine origin and consist of flysch or “ponca” in Friulian. Eocene marls formed by the sedimentation of limestone, silt, clays, and sandstones, which give rise to stony and crumbly soils, very draining and rich in minerals. The wines of Sirch are a faithful reflection of the terroir of the Colli Orientali, a true synthesis of fruit maturity, elegance, freshness, and longevity. The vineyards of the Sirch estate are cultivated in three different areas with particular characteristics. The vineyards in Cividale del Friuli are located near the winery, immersed in a wonderful hilly landscape. The main body of the property is in Orsaria, in the municipality of Primaticcio. Fifty hectares of terraced vineyards, which descend from the hilly area down to the banks of the Natisone River. Finally, in the area of Cladrecis, near Prepotto, not far from the Slovenian border, there is an estate of 12 hectares of vineyard, surrounded by 46 hectares of woods that ensure a cool climate characterized by significant temperature fluctuations. The grape varieties cultivated by Sirch are the classic ones of the Colli Orientali: the indigenous Ribolla Gialla, Schioppettino, Pignolo, and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, as well as the international varieties: Friulano, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Traminer, Pinot Noir, and Merlot.
