Sagrantino

Sagrantino grape has been cultivated in the Montefalco area, in Umbria, since the Middle Ages. The history of Sagrantino is linked to the importance of religious communities in Umbria and it seems that the name also refers to its sacred use during religious services, or to the term "sacristy" to indicate the premises for the clergy attached to Catholic churches. It is famous for its great intensity, concentration and aging capacity.
