Benefizio Riserva Pomino Bianco DOC by Frescobaldi is an elegant and historic white wine, the first barrique Chardonnay in Italy, born in 1973 in the prestigious Tenuta di Castello di Pomino, over 700 meters above sea level. The grapes come from mountain vineyards facing east and cultivated on mineral-rich soils, perfect for expressing finesse and longevity. After a careful manual harvest, the must ferments and ages in French oak barriques, with a period on the lees of about 6 months, enriching the wine with structure and complexity. The color is brilliant golden yellow; on the nose, it releases notes of peach, candied citrus, vanilla, and toasted hazelnut. On the palate, it is full-bodied, creamy, and persistent, with a perfect balance between minerality and aromatic roundness. Perfect when paired with noble baked fish, shellfish, noble poultry, and aged cheeses. Iconic.

Color: Intense straw yellow with golden reflections, a sign of aging in wood and the good concentration of the fruit. The brilliance anticipates a structured and noble white.
Bouquet: Complex, enveloping, and deep. Floral notes of broom and acacia emerge, followed by yellow-fleshed fruits like peach and pineapple, enriched by toasted, vanilla, and buttery nuances from aging in French oak barrels. The olfactory finish closes with hints of hazelnut and dry hay, indicating evolution and aging potential.
Taste: Full, velvety, and harmonious, with an important structure supported by balanced freshness and a long, creamy persistence. The passage in wood gives volume and softness, while the pronounced minerality, typical of Pomino, provides verticality and depth. Elegant closure, with a delicate recall of toasted almond.
Overall Rating: 92/100
