The Single Malt Scotch Whisky 'Ardmore' was distilled by Ardmore in 2003 and bottled in 2022 by Gordon & Macphail. Aging 19 YO. The Ardmore distillery produces a single malt with an unusual, aromatic, and smoky flavor. This peculiarity is due to the locally sourced Aberdeenshire peat, cut by the Northern Peat & Moss Company from St. Fergus, 40 miles away. This peat is totally different from maritime peat: it is richer in carbon notes and lacks sphagnum, the typical iodized note of Islay. On the nose, sweet notes of currant, licorice, and fresh mint. Aromas of lemon peel, ginger, and sweet smoke. Tasting notes of stewed raspberry, orange peel, baked apple, and black pepper. Full finish with notes of oak and summer berries. Excellent.

THE DISTILLERY
The town of Elgin, in the northeast of Scotland, is considered “the world capital of Whisky.” It is here that in 1895 Gordon & Macphail was founded by James Gordon and John Alexander McPhail. Their insight was to combine the typical “drugstore” with a wine and spirits shop, merging two distinct business activities and effectively becoming, in terms of Whisky, the pioneers of the single malt market outside the highlands. Their choices immediately proved to be more than successful: by selecting and purchasing the best new whiskies directly from the producer, aging them in the best casks, and finally bottling them at the most opportune moment, Gordon & Macphail dominated the single malt market during the thirty years from 1955 to 1985, becoming recognized for its complex and elegant style. Today, the company, capitalizing on the excellent relationships it has established with all Scottish distilleries, finds itself with an immense and diversified stock of whisky in its warehouses and continues to be present in the market with prestige and authority.
