The Merlot Riserva 'XV' by Alois Lageder comes from certified biodynamic viticulture, with vineyards located south of Magrè in the '15' vineyard, primarily cultivated with Merlot vines since 1957. A red wine of great substance and structure, with a refined style. Aromatic bouquet with notes of ripe red fruit followed by vegetal hints and spicy tones. To be tried with meat-based second courses, it pairs perfectly with pork stew.

THE WINE
The Merlot Riserva 'XV' by Alois Lageder is born from certified biodynamic viticulture, with vineyards located south of Magrè in the '15' vineyard, primarily cultivated with Merlot vines since 1957. A red wine of great substance and structure, with a refined style. Aromatic bouquet with notes of ripe red fruit followed by vegetal hints and spicy tones. It is perfect to try with second courses based on meat, especially with pork stew.
THE COMPANY
A true synonym of excellence, Alois Lageder has demonstrated over the years the best that South Tyrol can express in terms of personality, elegance, and territorial adherence. This is the result of a clear vision of their work, where every activity is closely linked to the others in a virtuous circle that has culminated in the conversion of their vineyards to biodynamics.
Founded in 1823 and now in its sixth generation, the company stands out for its ability to blend tradition and innovation: “quality is always the result of many details, sometimes even minor ones - recalls Alois Lageder - and in all processing phases we first seek to find harmony among all the factors involved, working in tune with nature.” It is no coincidence that each wine manages, like few others in the region, to tell the ever-different characteristics of its vineyard of origin - South Tyrol is indeed an extremely rich land in terms of soil variety, microclimatic areas, and exposures, which therefore offers ideal conditions for producing wines with marked individuality. The grapes harvested from the family-owned vineyards, about 50 hectares between Magrè, Cortaccia, Termeno, and the area of Lake Caldaro, are cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods certified by Demeter. Not only that, in addition to managing their own vineyards, the company collaborates with a number of trusted winemakers from various areas of South Tyrol, vineyards that collectively extend over another 110 hectares, of which about a quarter is cultivated according to biodynamic principles.
It is from this extraordinary context that wines are born that are true ambassadors of the territory, whites and reds of great charm that compose an assortment made up of three quality levels: the Classici, the Selezioni Terroir, and the Masi.
