The Gevrey Chambertin Premier Cru 'Les Estournelles Saint Jacques' from Closerie des Alisiers is born in one of the most highly regarded plots in Burgundy. It is produced from pure Pinot Noir grapes, and in the vineyard, no chemical or synthetic substances are used, while in the cellar, the same rigor is applied with alcoholic fermentation occurring in wooden containers, and aging for 15 months in partly new oak barrels. The aromatic bouquet presents varied hints, ranging from berries to wild rose, from sweet spices to licorice, with a slight toasty note that is delicious and very well integrated. On the palate, it combines power and finesse, characterized by a velvety and sensual texture. Only 1,500 bottles produced each year.

THE WINE

THE COMPANY
Stephane Brocard, son of Jean Marc Brocard, a renowned winemaker from Chablis, settled in Marsannay, in the north of the Côte de Nuits, in 2007. Here he founded Maison Stephane Brocard and his brand of hand-selected wines, Closerie des Alisiers. In addition to his work in his vineyards in Pommard and the old village of Daix, he has been working for years with the same winemakers and the same lands for the wines he produces.
His philosophy is to produce genuine and authentic wines with the utmost respect for the environment. He seeks purity, fruit, and freshness. The range includes regional, village, Premier Cru, and Grand Cru designations from Burgundy, from Chablis to Mâconnais, passing through many of the best designations of the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Stéphane Brocard aims to highlight the terroirs through the varieties of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes.
Recently he has also introduced a selection of organic wines. His company has obtained organic farming certification.
Closérie des Alisiers owns 2 hectares in Pommard and Daix (north of the Côte de Nuits). For the production of wines under the Closérie des Alisiers label, he has several partners in production for the different appellations.
