Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé 2018 from Château de Ferrand is an elegant and intense red that perfectly reflects the tradition of the terroir. It is the flagship wine of the winery, a prestigious bottle born on the limestone plateau of Saint-Hippolyte, at 100 meters s.l.m., with plots vinified separately to enhance the individual expressions of the soil. The harmonious blend combines the fruity softness of Merlot with the freshness and tension of Cabernet Franc, enriched by a small portion of Cabernet Sauvignon. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled concrete tanks, followed by aging for 14-18 months in French oak barrels (40% new). On the nose, it releases a refined bouquet with small berries, sweet spices, and medicinal herbs. The sip is intense and structured, with velvety tannins and a long and fresh finish. Great aging potential.

Chateau de Ferrand
In the heart of the famous Saint-Émilion denomination, Château de Ferrand represents one of the most fascinating and historic realities of the Bordeaux landscape. Founded in the early 18th century by Elie De Bétoulaud, a brilliant lawyer, poet, and patron as well as an intimate friend of the Sun King, the estate was born with the ambition to emulate the lavish atmosphere of the Palace of Versailles. A dream that took shape among refined architectures, underground galleries, and an expanse of land that still captivates today.
In 1978, the entry of the Bich family, famous for creating the Bic empire, marked a new era for Ferrand. After the baron's passing, the property remained firmly in the hands of his family, now represented by Pauline Bich Chandon-Moët and her husband Philippe Chandon-Moët, heirs of two great names in French tradition. Since 2010, the couple has launched an ambitious renewal plan: replanting the vineyards based on ampelographic studies, selecting the most suitable clones for the terroir, adopting sustainable viticultural practices, and expanding the infrastructure with custom vats for selected parcels.
In 2012, thanks to this forward-thinking vision, Château de Ferrand was awarded the title of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé. The estate now extends over 42 hectares, of which 32 are planted with Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (29%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (1%), cultivated with artisanal care and an innovative spirit.

Color: intense ruby red, almost impenetrable, with violet reflections on the edge that confirm its youth and liveliness. The brightness of the wine denotes good phenolic extraction and careful vinification.
Bouquet: deep and layered. It opens with notes of ripe black fruits such as blackberry, plum, and blackcurrant, followed by hints of black cherry. Next, sweet spicy aromas of vanilla and cloves emerge, due to aging in barrique, accompanied by hints of cocoa, light tobacco, and a slight mineral touch. The overall impression is elegant and complex, with a continuous evolution in the glass.
Taste: structured and powerful, with well-present tannins that are finely honed, providing strength without excess. The sip is full and consistent with the nose, featuring a nice fruity and spicy return. The balanced acidity and well-integrated alcohol ensure excellent overall harmony. The persistence is long, with a finish on notes of graphite, licorice, and black fruits in jam.
