THE COMPANY
Di Majo Norante has been producing wines from its own grapes since the 1800s, as evidenced by the cellars under the square and in the old family palace in Campomarino. The dedication to vine cultivation has been inherited first by Luigi and then by Alessio Di Majo, and is now planned along with a passion for research and experimentation. Di Majo Norante produces its wines exclusively from the 85 hectares of the ancient estate of the Marchesi Norante of Santa Cristina. The winemaking philosophy of Di Majo Norante respects the traditional approach to vine cultivation and wine production, in an attempt to preserve all the characteristics of the Mediterranean grape varieties.
THE LAND OF MOLISE
In Molise, wine has a tradition that dates back to the Samnites and the Romans, who introduced vine cultivation. The production methods have been passed down from generation to generation in the Southern Apennines, always linked to the values of the farming world. The Masseria Di Majo Norante is located to the north of Gargano in the Ramitello area, in the municipality of Campomarino, where the loose and partly sandy soil and the summer breeze contribute to creating a particularly favorable habitat. Alessio Di Majo, a stubborn and unconventional winemaker, has sacrificed productivity and standardized taste in the constant pursuit of quality and typicity, convinced that southern grape varieties are better suited to the pedoclimatic conditions of the Land of Molise. Below is a brief photo gallery of the Di Majo estate.
TECHNIQUES ACCORDING TO NATURE
Di Majo Norante pays meticulous attention to the selection, harvesting of grapes, and winemaking techniques, with a view to the constant improvement of the quality and healthiness of the wine. The vine is treated exclusively with organic and mineral fertilizers and is protected through the constant removal of weeds and biological pest control against pests like the grape moth, while pruning residues are removed to avoid infection outbreaks. The practice of ancient techniques and the adoption of modern technologies make it possible to produce a wine that is biological in many aspects, deserving to be fully enjoyed in the deep expression of its own typicity. Below is a brief photo gallery of the current facilities for winemaking and bottling.
