Poliziano
In the heart of Tuscany, among the hills of Montepulciano, stands the winery Poliziano, a name that evokes history and prestige. Founded in a land rich in winemaking traditions, Poliziano is a beacon of excellence in the Italian wine scene. Here, the fusion of tradition and innovation is the secret that has allowed this winery to create wines of rare elegance and longevity.
The territory of Montepulciano is a true treasure trove, and the DOCG Vino Nobile di Montepulciano designation is its brightest jewel. The winery Poliziano, immersed in this picturesque setting, passionately dedicates itself to the cultivation of Prugnolo Gentile, the most representative variety of the area, and Merlot, which helps give the wines a soft and enveloping character.
The production philosophy of Poliziano is a perfect balance between respect for tradition and openness to innovation. The attention to quality begins in the vineyard, where every grape is cared for with dedication, and continues in the winery, through modern techniques that enhance the characteristics of the grapes. Among the labels that Poliziano offers to the world, the Asinone is undoubtedly the most celebrated. This wine, emblematic of structure and complexity, embodies the essence of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, with intense aromas and a finesse that captivates even the most discerning palates.

THE COMPANY
Our company was founded in 1961 and in 50 years it has become a renowned wine production reality in Tuscany, known all over the world. Poliziano It is the name of the founder Dino Carletti, father of the current owner. Federico Carletti chose the name for the company in homage to the humanist Angelo Ambrogini and his roots. A name that reflects an important vocation: attention to the territory, love for one's own history, and a tradition that embraces innovation.
Our wines evoke the historical tradition of the territory but are capable of speaking to the world. They have a long history: born in the 1980s, they retain their original labels but have refined and evolved, always pursuing the goal of uncompromising quality. Each of our wines is primarily made from Sangiovese grapes, known in the area by the historic name of Prugnolo Gentile.
THE STORY
My family had its first contacts with the world of viticulture in 1961, when my father, Dino Carletti, purchased 22 hectares of land in the municipality of Montepulciano, where he planted the first specialized vineyards in the area. The reasons that led my father to make that investment were more heartfelt than economic, driven by the desire to maintain a connection with the places of his childhood and the culture of his homeland. That bond, more than producing immediate results in the management of the company, especially influenced my educational choices, which took me to Florence, where I graduated in agricultural sciences in 1978.
In the immediate years that followed, I held a professional position in a farm in Northern Italy, where I was not involved in viticulture, but where I was able to enrich my training with valuable experiences.
At the end of 1980, during a delicate moment due to the economic crisis and declining consumption, I decided to accept the challenge and took over the management of my company, establishing a new and more modern production philosophy, according to my personal vision of agriculture. From the very beginning, my passion for the art of "making wine" drove me to engage with the most advanced techniques used in international viticulture and oenology, creating an increasingly close and fruitful dialogue with industry specialists and fellow producers of Chianti Classico.
Soon I understood that the renewal of the company could only happen through the synthesis of the best technical knowledge, courage, and creativity. The result of combining these ingredients is the new viticulture of Poliziano, thanks to which for more than a decade our wines, strictly based onGentle Prugnolo, They are able to adopt a highly pleasing international style while maintaining a strong connection to their original territory.
In over thirty years of managing the viticulture and enology of my company, no decision has ever been made solely based on market analysis; rather, all choices have been inspired by my great passion for agriculture and the true emotion of imagining and theorizing a vineyard, a grape, a wine, and then finally seeing them come to fruition after having followed them step by step throughout their life.
Looking to the future, I aim to consolidate the clearly identifiable character of my products, which will arise from the new vineyards. In this perspective, I carry out a continuous and passionate research that constantly seeks to explore all possibilities for the qualitative growth of my wines. In recent years, the research has focused on the environmental sustainability of viticulture, with a reduction in the use of chemical products through studies and trials of organic and biodynamic farming. In the winery, we have increasingly applied a natural winemaking approach in which technology respects the original and classic characteristics of the wines.
