Alto Adige Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva DOC 'Lafoa' 2017 (750 ml.) Colterenzio
The Cabernet Sauvignon from the prestigious 'Lafòa' line of Colterenzio is a wonderful, intense red wine, structured and rich, a true excellence of the Alps. It is made from the eponymous grapes used in purity, grown in vineyards located at 430 meters above sea level on morainic soils. Fermentation on the skins for 10 days followed by a maceration of 10–14 days. The young wine is then moved to new and used oak barriques. Aging for 18 months. Careful filtration before bottling. Bouquet with notes of blackcurrant, bitter chocolate, marzipan, and vanilla. On the palate, it is intense, structured, and rich, with full tannins and extraordinary persistence. A great classic of international stature. It pairs well with red meats, grilled or roasted, but especially with game and spicy cheese.

LINEA LA FOA
Lafóa: from the pilot vineyard to the flagship wines
The name Lafóa brings to mind the beginning of the quality revolution in South Tyrol and the pioneering work carried out by Cantina Colterenzio in the 1980s. At that time, the pioneer Luis Raifer on the namesake vineyard not only planted new grape varieties but also introduced new quality standards: lower yields per grape and better quality wine. It was on this pilot vineyard that the “Lafóa idea” was born: the introduction of new quality standards that are still strictly followed today by both the winegrower members and the collaborators in the winery. Today, Lafóa is synonymous with whites and reds with a strong structure, refined, and with great aging potential.
THE WINE
The Cabernet Sauvignon Linea Lafòa by Colterenzio comes from a vineyard that produces wines with an unmistakable character, with an important structure and distinct class. The Lafóa undergoes aging in both new and used oak barrels for a duration of 18 months. Great aging potential.
THE COMPANY
Archduke Sigismund, residing at Castel Firmiano in the 15th century, was not the first to appreciate the fine wine of Colterenzio. In fact, as early as around 15 B.C. the Roman colonist Cornelius recognized the extraordinary fertility of this land and decided to settle here, thus laying the foundations for the current winemaking vocation of Colterenzio. His estate "Cornelianum" which gave its name to the village of Cornaiano, stood on a hill not far away. The ancient tradition was renewed in 1960 when 28 winemakers founded the Cantina Colterenzio. Others joined them over the years, and today Colterenzio has nearly 300 passionate winegrower members who contribute grapes from approximately 300 hectares of vineyards they own.
