THE MAISON
A great Champagne is first and foremost a great wine. With this premise, the Maison Delamotte presents itself, a "sister" of Salon and also located in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, a Grand Cru village in the Côte des Blancs. Founded in Reims in 1760 by François Delamotte, it is the fifth oldest Champagne house. Only at the end of the 18th century did Alexandre Delamotte purchase a villa in the village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, under which he built the cellars: the idea was to be close to the suppliers of the most precious grapes, those of Chardonnay. The Maison thrives while remaining of modest size (currently producing around 700,000 bottles), experiencing two significant quality leaps in 1975 and 1988. The first date coincides with the arrival of Bordeaux winemaker Alain Terrier, who works to reconceptualize the maison's style, imparting his philosophy that sees champagne primarily as a “wine of pleasure.” Thus, wooden vinification is abandoned in favor of steel, convinced that the wine should not be influenced by any foreign aroma and should express the terroir and variety with maximum purity and intensity. It is in 1988 that Delamotte joins Salon. In 1997, the skilled Didier Depond takes over the management of the two "sister" companies, marking the final piece in the growth journey of the two Maisons. "Vive et me Ama": live and love me, the motto of Delamotte, proudly conveys the idea of blending modernity and tradition, a complexity at the service of pleasure.
