The Malbec 'Primus' by Salentein originates in the Uco Valley of Mendoza from small plots of vineyards that are just over 20 years old. The vineyards of El Oasis Estate are at 1,150 m above sea level, while those of La Pampa Estate are at an altitude of 1,300 m above sea level, right next to the Andes mountain range. The harvest takes place in mid-April in the El Oasis vineyards and at the end of May in the La Pampa Estate vineyards. The grapes are hand-picked, and 86% of the fermentation occurs in wooden barrels, while the remaining part takes place in French oak barrels. It presents itself as complex with intense aromas of red fruit, accompanied by spicy notes (cloves and pepper). On the palate, it is soft and powerful, elegant, broad, and intense, with velvety tannins and beautiful freshness.

THE COMPANY
At the foot of the Andes mountain range, in the Uco Valley wine region, lies the Argentine wine company Salentein, created with a specific goal: to produce top-tier wines linked to their place of origin. The modern winery was designed based on two main concepts: aesthetics and functionality.
The nearly 50 hectares of cultivated vines of the Salentein winery are located in the Uco Valley, Mendoza, where the vines benefit from soils predominantly made up of sand and silt, high altitudes reaching nearly 1,700 meters above sea level, and a dry climate characterized by significant temperature fluctuations between day and night. In this pedoclimatic context, the estate applies sustainable viticulture in the cultivation of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.
The Salentein winery is responsible for a broad production based on Malbec, the emblematic grape variety of the Mendoza region, accompanied by many other prestigious labels made from international grapes. The main selections offered by the winery are: ‘Numina’, a line that expresses the spirit of the area where the estate was founded, ‘Single Vineyard’, from single plots located in the highest part of the Uco Valley, and ‘Primus’, an iconic range produced exclusively in the best vintages. In general, the wines of Salentein manage to combine the ripeness due to Mendoza's sunny climate, the lifted freshness provided by the high altitudes of the territory, and the pronounced aromatic fragrance that arises from significant temperature fluctuations.
