Kerner

Kerner is a semi-aromatic white-berry vine. It was created in Germany in 1929 by August Herold by crossing Schiava grossa (a red variety also known as Trollinger) and Riesling. The name Kerner derives from Justinus Kerner, a German doctor and poet (he wrote poems about wine) to which this vine was dedicated. Kerner is cultivated in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and, in Italy, in Alto Adige, where this vine may be indicated in the Denomination of Controlled Origin (DOC) Alto Adige since 1993.
