THE WINE

Chianti Rùfina Riserva 'Nipozzano' by Frescobaldi is produced in the heart of Rùfina, the most suitable area of Chianti. The ‘Nipozzano’ originates from the famous Castello di Nipozzano, located at about 300 meters above sea level. The grapes, predominantly Sangiovese, are enriched with small quantities of traditional varieties (Malvasia Nera, Colorino, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon) and cultivated in stony soils rich in minerals. After hand harvesting, the winemaking occurs in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, followed by maturation in oak barrels for 24 months and aging in the bottle. It appears as intense ruby red. On the nose, it expresses notes of cherry, berries, black pepper, and tobacco. The palate is elegant, fresh, and structured, with smooth tannins and a long and savory finish. A great Tuscan classic, perfect with roasts, game, and aged cheeses.

THE COMPANY

No other Italian winery can boast the history, prestige, and vision of the Marchesi Frescobaldi. A Florentine family dedicated for thirty generations and for 700 years to the production of great wines, with the constant aim of being the most prestigious Tuscan producer. In 1894, they built in Pomino, a location not far from Florence, the first Italian winery capable of utilizing natural gravity for transferring from barrels and distinguished themselves during the same period for introducing the “specialized vineyard.” In 1989, they purchased the Castelgiocondo estate in Montalcino, and in 1995 they inaugurated the Tenuta Luce della Vite in Montalcino, to which the Tenuta Conti Attems in Friuli was added in 2000. Recent bright projects include the control of the Tenuta dell’Ornellaia in Bolgheri in 2005, and in 2011 the inauguration of the very modern Ammiraglia winery in Maremma. All wines labeled “Marchesi Frescobaldi” are born from passion, experience, skill, and love for a chosen territory, Tuscany, which has become the ideal cradle for wines of the highest quality. With a cultivated area that currently nearly reaches one thousand hectares, and an annual production that hovers around seven million bottles, from the Chianti area to that of Pomino, from Montalcino to Maremma, the perfect knowledge of the environment and the uniqueness of the terroirs ensure a consistent quality and a marked personality of the wines, all - without exception - exceptional.
