The'Albarone' by Marco Bonfante is the flagship of this winery. The Albarossa grape variety was born in 1938 thanks to Prof. Giovanni Dalmasso, who genetically combined Nebbiolo from Dronero and Barbera to create a new grape variety. Today, Bonfante is among the very few wineries that produce a wine made from pure Albarossa grapes. After a meticulous selection in the vineyard, a drying process of part of the production follows, which is integrated at the time of pressing with the fresh grapes left to ripen on the vine. It is aged for 24 months in French oak barrels. A long-lived wine, with great structure, extremely fleshy, tannic but smooth, and it has an exceptional concentration of fruit. It is very persistent, with a sweetness that reveals a taste of blackberry and ripe plum.
