Santadi
In the heart of the Sardinian island, among unspoiled landscapes and ancient traditions, the winery Santadi stands as a bastion of oenological excellence. Born as a cooperative, this establishment has managed to unite the efforts of local grape growers, transforming Carignano del Sulcis into a true legend. Nestled in the Sulcis territory, a sun-kissed and wind-kissed corner of Sardinia, Santadi has managed to enhance the peculiarities of a unique terroir, giving life to wines that reflect the richness and complexity of these lands.
The production philosophy of the winery is nourished by the balance between tradition and innovation, with a focus on sustainability and respect for the environment. The vineyards, cultivated with wisdom and love, are the undisputed realm of Carignano and Vermentino, two varieties that best express the Sardinian soul. Carignano, in particular, finds its ideal land in Sulcis, giving rise to wines of extraordinary richness and structure.
Among the labels that carry high the name of Santadi, Terre Brune stands out for its complexity and enveloping softness. A wine that tells stories of sun-drenched lands, with aromas ranging from fruity notes to spicy ones, in a hug that is both vigorous and delicate.

THE WINE
The 'Rocca Rubia' from the Cantina Santadi is a Carignano del Sulcis DOC, in Riserva version. It is obtained from grapes from the low Sulcis, hand-harvested and trained in bush vines, from sandy and clayey soils. It ages in 1st and 2nd passage French oak barriques for about 10-12 months. It has a full-bodied sip and rare softness, with very long fruity and spicy finishes.
THE COMPANY
In the heart of Sulcis, in the province of Carbonia-Iglesias, in the southwestern area of Sardinia, lies the Cantina Santadi.
Located in the small medieval municipality of Santadi, in the low Sulcis, surrounded by vineyards, olive trees, oaks, pines, and junipers, this enchanting area of Sardinia features coastal stretches with white beaches, hilly areas, flat lands, and mountainous terrains, characterized by a Mediterranean climate with granitic and calcareous soils rich in sediments.
A cooperative reality founded by small grape producers in 1960, born with the aim of producing and trading bulk wine, with the arrival of the new president Antonello Pilloni, the Cantina Santadi takes flight and focuses entirely on innovation and the quality of its wines.
This includes the renewal of the winery and the winemaking departments, leading to the construction and setup of a modern laboratory, a purifier, and an innovative photovoltaic plant.
In the 1980s, Giacomo Tachis was called to lead the winery and production, who with passion and determination guided the winery to national and international success.
Thanks to his intervention, production focused on very high-quality wines with a strong territorial imprint, maintaining an innovative spirit while respecting tradition, favoring native grape varieties, particularly carignano, a variety particularly widespread in the Sulcis area.
From carignano, with the 1984 vintage, the Santadi Terre Brune was born, the first barrel-aged red from Sardinia, which rests in new fine-grain oak barriques for a period of 16-18 months and ages for 12 months in the bottle.
But at the Cantina Santadi, in Sardinia, the focus is not only on Carignano del Sulcis; other native and international grape varieties are also cultivated, such as cannonau di Sardegna, nasco, nuragus, vermentino, monica, and cabernet, merlot, chardonnay, and syrah, always aiming to offer high-quality wines with different organoleptic characteristics and various terroirs.
Thus, generous wines are born at the Cantina Santadi, balancing peasant tradition and innovation, territorial expression, and distinct personality, such as the Rocca Rubia, the Latinia, the Cannonau di Sardegna Noras, and the Vino Liquoroso Festa Noria Santadi, obtained from indigenous red grapes.
