Alicante Bouschet

Alicante Bouschet takes its name from its creator, the nurseryman Henri Bouschet, who obtained it from a cross between Petit Bouschet and Grenache. It is a "tintora" or "teinturier" grape, that is, with red skins and equally red pulp. Originally from France, with cultivations in Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence, it is today cultivated mainly in Spain, where it is called Garnacha Tintorera, but is also present in Portugal and North Africa.
