Pinotage
Pinotage is the native South African grape variety par excellence. South Africa is in fact the only country where it is grown significantly, although there are some experimental vineyards in Australia, California and Israel. Pinotage is actually a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsaut, created by scientist Abraham Perold of Stellenbosch University in 1925.
